Sons who would be gods

Closeness was the greatest gift
withdrawn alas by prideful grift
the lesser raised himself

the order was upended
and supreme law thereby offended
by sons who would be gods

from that day the sun and wind
nature’s branches that sway and bend
in sympathy alight

memories of the dawning age
righteous creation before the fray,
when son’s hubris took flight

this imitation of real
the ego of son’s endless zeal,
a history and stain of pride

it was not always this way,
though time has forgotten betray
the garden has never

and a plan there was always
to restore the friendship plundered
a new way provided

a bridge over dark waters
a sacrifice, an open door
again, sons will be born

a breaking of cycle comes
with the reveal of renewed sons
a new garden awaits through time

for sons who would be sons.
